Pen & Ink Stipple Portrait of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

To honor Martin Luther King Day, I dug way back into my flat files to find this old pen & ink stipple portrait I created back in the mid-eighties for...Burger King! I honestly can't remember why Burger King commissioned the drawing and I can't find a reprint of the original ad. Perhaps it had something to do with them sharing the same last name. I do remember that the house that Dr. King grew up in is rendered on the left, and I suppose that this - contrasting the scene of Washington DC on the right - suggests the road he traveled. I have had the opportunity to create portraits of Dr. King on two other occasions since this one - the first was for Oprah Winfrey Productions and another for the California Public Schools -  but I always particularly liked this one.
